Every year, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) encourage young minds to delve deep into the pages of history through their American History Essay Contest. The students of Ridgeline Academy, located at 33625 N. North Valley Pkwy., in Phoenix, have been active participants in this contest, as the local DAR chapter members visit the campus to engage with the fifth and sixth-grade students. The initiative not only introduces students to the Daughters of the American Revolution but also challenges them to reflect on a specific historical topic and craft an essay.

The American History Essay Contest was designed to stimulate young minds to think creatively about the nation’s rich history and learn from it in a novel way. Each academic year, a new essay topic is selected, and guidelines are distributed. The competition is open to all students from grades fifth to eighth, and the submitted essays are evaluated based on historical accuracy, adherence to the topic, organization of materials, interest, originality, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and neatness.

Ridgeline Academy is thrilled to announce that one of its own, sixth-grader Ella Favia, has been declared the state winner of the Daughters of the American Revolution American History Essay Contest. The academy is incredibly proud of Ella’s achievement and commends her for soaring high and representing the school at such a prestigious level.

The recognition of Ella’s work highlights the importance of encouraging students to engage with history actively. It reinforces the notion that a comprehensive understanding of the past is crucial for shaping a better future. Winning this contest is not only a personal achievement for Favia but also serves as an inspiration to her peers at Ridgeline Academy and students across the state.

Ridgeline Academy extends congratulations to Ella and expresses gratitude to the Daughters of the American Revolution for organizing the contest and providing an opportunity for students to explore history from a fresh perspective. The academy remains committed to encouraging its students to participate in similar educational initiatives and looks forward to celebrating more successes in the future.
