Liberty High School is home to one of the top HS baseball teams in the nation

The Liberty Lions baseball team celebrated their 6A state baseball champions with a ring ceremony on Thursday, August 19 at Liberty Buick. The 2020-21 Liberty Lions baseball team finished the year with 19 consecutive wins and a victory over Alhambra in the 6A Arizona State Baseball Championship game.

Liberty High School’s baseball team compiled a 21-3 record and were recognized as one of the top high school baseball teams in the nation, ranked #6 by Baseball America and #10 by MaxPreps. The 2021 season marked the Lions’ third state championship in baseball since the school opened in 2006. It is the school’s second championship in the past four years under the leadership of Coach Chris Raymond.

The Ring Ceremony was a celebration of the coaches and players who put together a tremendous season that resulted in national recognition. City of Peoria Mayor Cathy Carlat recognized the team for their outstanding dedication and effort during a recent City Council Meeting. The mayor also issued a proclamation that August 17, 2021 is “Peoria Liberty Lions State Baseball Champion Day.”
