Spend a little time, not money to create a gift that will be remembered for years to come. Find an adult to help and create a Handprint and Photo Framed Art piece for someone special.
Materials Needed:
- A picture frame (8×10 or similar)
- White cardstock paper
- Washable paint (pick your favorite colors)
- Paint brush or sponge
- Glue or double sided tape
- Optional: stickers, glitter glue, ribbon
Step 1 – Prepare the Paper:
- Remove the back of the frame and take out the display paper
- Use the display paper as a guide to cut your cardstock
Step 2 – Make the Handprint Art
- Pour washable paint on a plate
- Paint your hand or press it into the paint on the plate
- Gently press your hand onto the paper
- Let the paper dry for 5 to 10 minutes
* Ideas for what the handprint can become:
- A Christmas tree (stacked handprints)
- A heart shape made from two hands
- A reindeer (add googly eyes & antlers with markers)
- Snowflakes accented around the handprint
- Flowers (add stems and leaves with markers)
Step 3 – Add a Photo
- Glue a small picture of yourself or the whole family onto the page
- Place the photo near, above or inside the handprint design
Step 4 – Write a Special Message
Messages such as:
- Merry Christmas, (name of the person the project is for)!
- Hands down, you’re the best (mom, dad, aunt, uncle etc)!
- Made with love by (your name and the year made)
Step 5 – Decorate & Frame
- Add stickers, glitter glue, or small drawings
- Place the finished artwork into the frame
- Tie a ribbon around the frame if you want to make it festive
