Applications now open to become a certified ACE trainer

WHY:

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are traumatic events that happen in childhood. In Arizona, more than half of adults have experienced at least one ACE. The more traumatic experiences an individual has before the age of 18, the greater the individual’s risk is for health and social problems throughout his/her lifetime.

A certified ACE trainer gains knowledge and skills to help inspire communities to break the cycle and mitigate the impact of ACEs and help foster the health and well-being of Arizonans.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona  is committed to building trauma-informed care capacity statewide to improve mental health outcomes for Arizonans.

WHAT:

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona is providing scholarships for 40 individuals in Arizona communities and organizations to complete the Arizona Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Consortium’s 5-week training program to become a certified ACEs trainer.

Training participants gain a deeper understanding of the ACEs study, both nationally and in Arizona, and the short- and long-term impacts of trauma along the age continuum from children to adults. Participants learn resilience and trauma-informed care strategies, skills, and resources to support those who have experienced adversity/trauma.

WHEN/WHERE:

Arizona Adverse Childhood Experiences Consortium’s virtual training program begins October 19, 2021, and is held every Tuesday for 5 weeks, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHO:

Individuals who are interested in deepening their knowledge about ACEs, learning more about the trauma-informed approach, and who are committed to continuing this work in their communities are encouraged to apply. Experience working in this area is helpful, but is not required. To learn more and to apply for the ACEs training scholarship, visit mobilizeaz.com/ACE.
